The
three founders of the Po'g Mahon Motorcycle Club are remnants of the Wild Pigs Motorcycle
Club-Tracy, California Chapter, the Wild Pigs second chapter.
The Wild Pigs Motorcycle Club was founded in June of 1987 in San Jose, California by a small posse of Deputy Sheriff's within the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office. The motorcycle club was designed exclusively for active and/or retired law enforcement officers and firefighters with a few select associate members. In 1994, two members of the WPMC's San Jose chapter trademarked the club's name and its logo for the purpose of franchising it. The action created a division between R and R Enterprises and the Wild Pigs Motorcycle Club. Several years passed in court while both parties delivered their legal arguments for ownership of the trademark. During this time the WPMC continued to grow in membership across the United States and Canada. In 2000, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office in Washington, D.C. delivered a legal and binding decision as to the ownership of the club's name and its logo. The USPTO concluded R and R Enterprises to be the legal owners of the trademark. They also recognized the Wild Pigs Motorcycle Club as having "first-use" of the name and logo and they were therefore entitled to its continued use, a decision that at that time neither side could or would want to live by. The National WPMC Board offered R and R enterprises a monetary sum for the exclusive rights and ownership to the trademark but was refused. |
The morale of the WPMC's membership subsequently declined; many chapters closed their doors and formed their own motorcycle clubs, while others opted to franchise their chapters with R and R enterprises, jump-starting a new history and future for the organization. The Wild Pigs today thrive as a viably recognized International Public Safety Motorcycle Club. The original members of the Wild Pigs emerged with a new identity in 2001, the Iron Warriors Motorcycle Club. They too enjoy a strong and growing membership that today is a viably recognized International Public Safety Motorcycle Club. After nearly fourteen years and with great reluctance, Tracy, the number two Chapter of the Wild Pigs MC retired its charter in March of 2001, never joining the fold of the Iron Warriors MC. A year would pass before three members of its chapter would form the Po'g Mahon Motorcycle Club in March of 2002. The PMMC is a state and federally recognized 501(c)3, non-profit charitable organization for the recreational motorcyclist. Our main charitable recipients are the Sierra Vista Child and Family Services Organization, Merced Union High School Child Development Center and the Michael Cox-David Waite Peace Officers' Memorial Ride. Each year the PMMC members and supporters donate their time, money and effort to bring Christmas to the children of Sierra Vista and the MUHSD CDC who might not otherwise have a holiday filled with the spirit of love, joy and hope. We also work toward raising education funds for the surviving children of Michael Cox and David Waite. The Po'g Mahon Motorcycle Club wishes well to all that we encounter and to those who pass our way. |
